Western Energy Magazine Features AltaGas Utilities in Article
The Winter 2017/2018 publication of Western Energy Magazine features an article discussing AltaGas Utilities’ Aerial Automated Meter Reading Program. In an effort to improve the number and accuracy of our meter readings, and to reduce a higher-than average incidence of meter-reader injuries, we switched to aerial meter reading. This remote-capture technology allows our employees to collect meter data in the general vicinity of our gas meters, without having to enter private property. This effort, combined with new technology developed to collect the data by plane has resulted in a 99% meter reading collection rate, eliminated injuries due to meter readings, Reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions – substituting 38 vehicles with one aircraft reduced annual GHG emissions due to meter reading by 80 percent (over 400 tonnes CO2 equivalent); and reduced meter reading costs overall. AltaGas Utilities Inc. Host Most Successful United Way Campaign to Date!
2016 marked the 50th year AltaGas Utilities Inc., or its predecessors, supported United Way. We support United Way through the generosity of our employees, who donate their money and time in an effort to eliminate poverty. We would not be successful without their involvement, enthusiasm, and imagination, and we are extremely proud to be part of such a tremendous team. When we support United Way, we do so knowing the money raised is helping people we don’t know, knowing our donations will help a child complete school, or a woman find shelter from abuse. United Way’s vision aligns with our Company values. This year AltaGas Utilities' Employees donated $59,221 to United Way, surpassing the half a million dollars lifetime contributions mark! AUI Employees Accept Community Award on Behalf of LRCC
On November 9, 2017, Greg Johnston, AUI President, accepted the 2017 National Philanthropy Day’s Community Outreach award on behalf of the Leduc Region Caring Companies (“LRCC”). This award recognizes people, companies and groups who have en-gaged in acts of charity, and have given their time, talent and resources to improve the lives of those living in communities out-side of Edmonton. The LRCC was nominated for this award by the United Way of the Alberta Capital Region.
The LRCC is focused on engaging, connecting and inspiring other local businesses to help create pathways out of poverty. Since its inception in 2014, the LRCC has raised awareness on and improved access to support services available to those facing social issues in the Leduc region.
AUI is proud of its employees’ efforts to support the communities in which we live and work in. Greg Johnston is Co-Chair of the LRCC committee and Mark Lowther (VP, Corporate Services) and Lina Bissani-Armstrong (Manager, Human Resources) are also involved in the LRCC. Additionally, Katie Oliver (AUI’s Supervisor, Regulatory Research and Communications), sits on a sub-committee of the LRCC. Together, we can make a difference!
AltaGas Utilities Communication Campaign
If you are driving around Alberta, you may notice something a little different. We have unveiled our new communications campaign informing customers of local construction activities. The campaign has been designed to create community awareness of AUI activities in the area and will be promoted in combination with social media notices of construction undertakings. According to the J.D. Power 2016 Gas Utility Business Customer Satisfaction Study, proactive communications with customers is an important driver for customer satisfaction. Frequent communication goes a long way when it comes to business customer satisfaction
The signs were created featuring an AUI Technician in the regions or towns where construction activities are occurring. Every year, new signs will be made based on the construction location and left behind for districts to use when completing work.
Russell Wintersgill, AUI VP Operations & Engineering indicates: “We are excited to be proactive in letting our customers know we are reinvesting in their communities by improving the systems and ensuring we continue to deliver warm energy.”
AltaGas Utilities Volunteers at the LRCC Ball Hockey Tournament
On Friday, May 26, 2017, the Leduc Caring Companies Committee, in conjunction with United Way, sponsored a ball hockey tournament at the Edmonton International Airport. Our President, Greg Johnston, is co-chair of the Leduc Region Caring Companies Committee and we were proud to have helped organize this great event, provide a BBQ for the players and volunteers and initially field two teams (the two teams eventually volunteered to split into three teams, in order to help rescue the schedule when two other registered teams failed to show up).
Money was raised for local United Way funded charities and a lot of fun was had by all. Thank you to all who participated and volunteered their time to help make this event such a great success! Together, we can make a difference!
